Why Your Role Matters:

The Administrative Officer, Equitable Learning plays a key role within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Education & Student Experience portfolio, Education Pillar, Student Success theme, in providing efficient and effective day-to-day administrative support to Equitable Learning Service, initiatives. This role will contribute to increased participation and success in education and is guided by the Disability Discrimination Act, the Disability Standards for Education and Privacy Legislation, and aligned with the UNSW 2025 Strategy to enhance Educational Excellence and the Student Experience.

The role is a dynamic position expected to demonstrate skills, knowledge, independence and an appetite for the use of digital technologies and platforms. This role will effectively and efficiently coordinate and administer the critical provision of educational adjustments, associated services and equipment to students to ensure equity and inclusivity in access to, and participation in, study at UNSW. The role is also required to maintain documentation and records and contribute to reporting required against government funding of the service.

Who You Are:


• Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.


• High-level experience providing effective customer service in a client-facing administrative function, with a positive and respectful approach to working with people from diverse backgrounds.


• Advanced organisational skills, with proven ability to work according to strict deadlines and to manage competing demands.


• Highly advanced interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to empathise and provide specialised advice to students, and to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse external and internal stakeholders.


• Advanced level computer literacy including proficiency in using Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel to match, analyse and filter data; alongside client management systems skills.


• Strong attention to detail and record keeping skills, with the ability to understand and communicate financial information and monitor expenditure and provide updates against allocated budgets.


• Ability to review, plan, organise and co-ordinate projects and tasks, with a focus on efficiency and service improvement.


• Proven ability to work flexibly, productively, and effectively as part of a team while operating autonomously and demonstrating strong initiative and a proactive approach.


• An understanding or awareness of the legislative context including Disability Discrimination Act (1992), Disability Standards for Education 2005, and Privacy legislation.


• An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives, and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.


• Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
