Job Description

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the role involves overseeing maintenance operations for our WAGABOX unit in Victoria to ensure operational readiness and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.

You will mainly work independently and remotely from the team, with daily onsite presence required in Victoria (Hartland landfill) except for administrative tasks.

Occasional travels to the main office in Shawinigan, Quebec, Canada, and some international travel are expected.

During onboarding, spending one to two months at the main office and operating facility in North America is required.

Starting contract date: January 2024

Responsibilities

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure safe and reliable plant operation while complying with regulations
  • Manage installation, maintenance, and repair of processing equipment
  • Supervise maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and procedures
  • Monitor daily technical and operational processes
  • Handle spare parts management and maintenance supplies
  • Interact with regulatory bodies
  • Maintain site cleanliness and safety
  • Identify and communicate equipment hazards
  • Support administrative tasks such as work order management and procedure development
  • Execute assigned tasks by the Maintenance team

Work schedule typically follows a 5-day x 8-hour format (day shift) with occasional on-call requirements once proficient.

Job Qualifications

Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate should have:

  • 5+ years of Industrial Maintenance experience, particularly in the chemical or gas industry
  • Experience with building and equipment maintenance and repair
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems and processes
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • A commitment to environmental initiatives
  • A valid Class 5 BC driver's license
  • French language skills are a plus but not mandatory
