Comcare is seeking an EL1 Assistant Director to perform a non-ongoing role for 12 months with possible extension, to lead Comcare's Telecommunications Asbestos Safety Compliance (TASC) program.


Team and role overview
The TASC program sits within Comcare's Regulatory Operations Group and dedicated to the rollout of the NBN network.

A significant focus of the program are the risks arising from the removal and handling of Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) and civil construction works.

However, other work, health and safety risks associated with the network rollout are also considered within the scope of the program.

The aim of the program is to ensure the highest levels of work health and safety are applied to the rollout of the NBN network through a risk-based, cooperative and proactive approach.

TASC Inspectors undertake work health and safety site inspections and audits. This includes verifying compliance with Commonwealth WHS legislation and Codes of Practice.

Inspectors work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders including Delivery Partners, contractors, health and safety advisors, and other regulators.


The Assistant Director will be required to:

  • lead and manage a geographically dispersed team of TASC Inspectors, including the day-to-day operation of activities undertaken by the team
- build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external
- manage the data analysis and reporting requirements associated with the program
- lead and coordinate the assurance program to ensure that high risk matters are identified and escalated as per escalation procedures
- represent Comcare's interests at external forums including quarterly steering committees and operational meetings
- manage, oversee and ensure the quality of internal and external reporting requirements
