ABOUT THE ROLE:

  • Active engagement in providing emotional and spiritual care in a culturally diverse, women's health care service
  • Providing Pastoral/Spiritual Care you will:
  • Be flexible, adaptable, with well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Have strong communication skills to engage patients and families
  • Be able to assess, triage and respond to diverse pastoral, spiritual and religious needs.
  • Need to be flexible in providing pastoral care within different clinical settings
  • Be competent to provide pastoral care to bereaved families, including creation and undertaking rituals when needed.
  • Engage with all members of the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care and making referrals as needed.
  • Work with innovation, change and quality improvement initiatives.
  • ABOUT YOU:
  • Completed at least two units of Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent supervised pastoral/spiritual care training.
  • Completed a Bachelor of Theology or relevant graduate qualifications and eligible for membership of Spiritual Care Australia.
  • Willingness to develop spiritual care practices to ensure holistic care of patients and families within this diverse clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills to work within a pastoral care team and a multidisciplinary team.
  • Evidence of commitment to ongoing professional development and spiritual growth as a pastoral carer

  • Mercy Hospital for Women is a fully accredited Level 6 Public Specialist Teaching Hospital providing both public and private patient care through maternity services, neonatology and paediatrics, perioperative services, gynaecology, women's health and associated health, support and diagnostic services. We are a major teaching hospital and specialist referral centre with the medical, nursing, midwifery and allied health expertise to treat the most complex obstetric, neonatal and gynaecological cases.
