The NSW Government is investing $8.6 billion over the next 4 years, continuing its program to deliver 160 new and upgraded schools to support communities across NSW.
_They are currently looking to engage a Landscape Designer for an initial 12 months based at George Street and WFH. This role is paying $700 per day + super._
The primary purpose of the role is to provide a design and technical advisory service to SINSW that is efficient, cost effective and adds value to the development of sound infrastructure planning that meets organisational, legislative and educational requirements.
Comprehensive experience in the design, specification and delivery of educational campuses, play based landscapes, sporting facilities and infrastructure will be greatly advantageous.
The landscape designer will:
- Provide strategic, technical advice and guidance across a range of infrastructure design issues during initiation stage of the project, master planning and concept design in reference to the Educational Facilities Standards and Guidelines (EFSG), landscape and urban design best practice standards
- Provide landscape studies and assist in preparation of initial "block and stack" to test capacity of the selected school sites
- Undertake Gap Analysis and assessment to prepare accommodation schedules for existing and future educational facilities to inform project scope and design briefs particularly relating to open space, outdoor learning and sports facilities.
- Coordinate investigations into design related activities that inform the EFSG and design principles.
- Assist in the development of landscape, urban design, placemaking and educational planning policies, frameworks and advice notes to support government policies and enhance learning environments.
- Direct and manage design service levels and outputs to ensure that they progress on time and within budget, while meeting the expectation of stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively across business areas within the department and government agencies developing integrated landscape and urban design processes and systems.

_Skills and knowledge_
The landscape designer will ideally have 8-10+ years of experience.
They will be able to work independently and as part of small and larger groups.
- The following skills will be beneficial in the role:_
- Writing and reporting
- Use of adobe suite, particularly strong skills with Indesign
- Experience in 3D modelling software / drafting
- Knowledge of current local and global standards and best practice that relate to educational landscape design
- Knowledge of and use in spatial modelling (GIS) a bonus
