State Development, Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning (Organisation site ) Development Assessment Policy and Practice; Development Assessment; Planning; Brisbane City As a Senior Planning officer, you play a critical role in coordinating and managing Planning and Environment Court (P&E Court) proceedings involving the State Assessment and Referral Agency (SARA), the department's one-stop-shop for the assessment and determination of development applications where a state planning jurisdiction applies.

You will also assist in the review and drafting of model conditions to support SARA operations.

Additionally, you will also provide planning and policy support to colleagues across the Planning Group and technical agencies who are undertaking development assessment roles within the SARA.

You will be a member of a high performing team delivering high quality outputs in a fast paced and demanding operating environment, and will foster a positive, agile and responsive culture.


In this role you will:

  • Provide high-level advice to internal and external stakeholders on development assessment matters (including development conditions and P&E Court appeals), legislative reform initiatives and recommendations regarding the SARA legislative framework and policy intent
  • Utilise specialised knowledge and expertise in development assessment to negotiate and liaise on development applications (including P&E Court matters)
  • Review and draft SARA model conditions and prepare for and coordinate the implementation of model conditions packages throughout the Planning Group
  • Prepare briefs and instructions to lawyers, submissions, briefing notes, and reports relevant to P&E Court matters, including significant development assessmentand land use planning issues
  • Facilitate and monitor the efficient operations of the planning system, specifically in relation to SARA and P&E Court processes Applications to remain current for 12 months.
