About the role:
The Municipal Building Surveyor will:

  • Ensure Building applications are processed in an efficient manner and in accordance with the statutory requirements under the provisions of the Building Act and Regulations
  • Prepare reports for management, Council, Building Appeals Board and other Building forums as necessary.
  • Represent Council at tribunals, advisory bodies, hearings, panels and other formal meetings when required.
  • Provide effective, high quality and comprehensive advice to all Council's customers (internal and external) regarding Building Services and manage the monitoring of legislative compliance.
  • Undertake Building Inspections throughout the Municipality (and outside the Municipality as required) to ensure compliance with Building permits issued.
  • Prepare and issue building permits, within and outside of the Municipality, ensuring applications and certificates are received, assessed and issued efficiently.

About You:
To succeed in this role you will have:

  • Building Practitioner Board registration (Victoria) as a Building Surveyor- Unlimited.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Building Act, Regulations, Building Code of Australia, and associated legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing & providing building control services.
  • Extensive experience in Local government building surveying.
  • High-level dispute resolution and communication skills.
  • A current Driver's License.
  • National Police Check
