The opportunity


We have an exciting opportunity for a Business Intelligence Data Modeller, temporary full time role upto 30th June 2024 within Advanced Analytics & Insights divison.

The role designs and develops data models to support the suite of dashboards and self-serve BI solutions delivered by the AAI branch for use across the cluster.

The role will also establish enterprise standards for developing data models for use in business intelligence solutions that business intelligence teams in the division can adopt.

Your role will include

  • Develop and test data models, queries and related artefacts for agreed business requirements which enable the development of front end solutions by BI specialists and developers for dashboards and other selfservice solutions.
  • Design and customise dimensional models, data schemas, and Bl metadata that efficiently enable the scaling of dashboard and selfservice solutions.
  • Partner with the data engineering function to ensure that data layers in the AAI data environments are designed to be leveraged effectively for BI data model development.
  • Establish best practices, integrity and data governance for BI data model development by implementing standards and guidelines.
  • Support the continuous improvement and innovation in business intelligence by using new techniques to provide consumable data models for different user levels, including support of augmented analytics solutions.
  • Performance tuning of efficient data models to ensure selfservice solutions are readily available and reliable for client use.
  • Establish and manage effective relationships with other BI data modellers through the community of practice to share practice standards, share knowledge and troubleshoot, and problem solve.

About you
To be successful in the role

  • Have appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience
  • Demonstrated experience in developing efficient business intelligence data models
  • Extensive knowledge of modern cloud (AWS, Azure) environments
  • Extensive knowledge of visualisation design principles, standards and best practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of data warehouse, data analytics and reporting processes and procedures.
  • Strong Experience in data preparation, blending, integration and resolution of data quality issues for subsequent analysis in Tableau and Power BI.
  • Understanding of, and experience in working with different spatial projection standards, geospatial file formats and spatial web services.

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is TfNSW Grade 9 ($ $159, per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.
