The Environment Specialist will assist in the management of pollution / contamination obligations for the Qantas Group's leased and owned properties within Australia and abroad.

This role is required to manage consultants and contractors completing environmental assessments and remediation projects.


A key responsibility of this role will be providing support and advice across departments as required to meet regulatory and contractual requirements.

The Environment Specialist will have the ability to conduct technical reviews of reports, guidelines and regulations to identify potential risks to the Group.

The role will require the Environment Specialist to appropriately manage and consolidate assessment data to enhance the understanding of the Group's property portfolio and guide future programs of work.


Key success factors for this role include the proven ability to manage key projects and administrative tasks; facilitate access; engage with relevant stakeholders; maintain budgets and timeframes; organise contracts; and report on key project metrics.


You'll have:

  • 3+ years' experience in contaminated land management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with senior stakeholders.
  • Strategic understanding of the Airports Act and other relevant Commonwealth and State based environment Acts and Regulations.
  • A working knowledge of the National Environment Protection (Assessment of Site Contamination) Measure and other relevant guidelines.
  • Exposure to and understanding of safety systems in an airline, or equivalent highly operational businesses.
  • Experience in managing and collating environmental datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand reporting requirements and develop business reports and specifications as required.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Red Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
  • Proven experience working in and/or managing crossfunctional projects which involve diverse business teams and stakeholders.
  • The ability to travel internationally and domestically.
