The
Risk & Control Specialist is a brand-new role and is responsible for offering First Line of Defence to support the business in delivering control testing and assurance activities for operational risk and compliance obligations and provide recommendations to uplift and strengthen the control environment.

This role sits in the first-line Risk team of Guild's Insurance business which supports control assurance activities and is responsible for ensuring that internal controls sufficiently support risks and obligations and recommending improvement opportunities.

The
core accountabilities of this role are as follows:

  • Work with a range of stakeholders to identify, design, document, implement, embed and measure new controls and enhance existing controls.
  • Conduct control testing for design and operating effectiveness.
  • Working with leadership teams to educate and drive cultural awareness of the importance of an adequate control environment.
  • Assisting insurance SMEs with the development of Bow ties, Process Maps
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in risk processes and procedures and coordinate relevant change initiatives.

About you:

  • 35 years of relevant experience working in a risk or controls capacity, preferably in a General Insurance environment
  • Extensive Control Testing experience
  • Financial services industry experience and knowledge are desirable, as is prior experience in agile environments.
  • Exposure to Risk Management Frameworks, risk profiling workshops and controls design/ assessment.
  • Experience in developing, maintaining or supporting Enterprise Risk Management systems is desirable.
