About the role


We have an opportunity for a
Band Member - Musician (French Horn) to be part of our New South Wales Police Band, Public Affairs Branch team.

The Band Member contributes to the positive promotion of the NSWPF through community engagement by performing as a musician in the NSW Police Band (a Wind Orchestra) and its various ensembles.


  • This position attracts an allowance for doubling on a second musical instrument as well as a weekly laundry allowance._

Target Question 1:

In addition to the required consistent and ongoing professional level of performance, a musician in the NSW Police Band must have the capacity to meet key challenges of the work which include: - a high level of commitment, accountability, punctuality, deportment and
presentation; having an adaptable approach to performance in a variety of settings including less than desirable indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions (including prolonged periods of standing and marching in those conditions); actively participating in
the logístical and administrative functions of the Band, as well as being able to interact with police officers, youth and members of the community in a positive and professional way; and finally, being able to foster positive workplace interactions within a large and diverse musical
team.

Demonstrate how your life and/or workplace experiences can be adapted to successfully meet these and other key non-musical challenges.

Target Question 2:


It is highly desirable that a musician possesses an additional skill set that can be adapted to contribute to the promotional, logístical, and administrative functions of the Band, skills and knowledge like holding a Medium and Light Rigid Driver's Licence, arranging, composition, (Sibelius software) internet/social media, recording/sound (Mac computer experience), instrument repair, video, photography, and graphic arts are just some examples.
