But what you might not realise is that we also provide support to several government departments including delivering health advice to The Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Our role is to support the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) to meet the Nation's commitment to care for our veteran and defence service community - the men and women who have served Australia in times of war and conflict as well as peacetime.


About the role

  • 2 days a week


The Exercise Physiologist - plays a critical role in ensuring the appropriate use of clinical evidence in support of access to services that will maintain and enhance quality of life for veterans and their families.

In this unique new role, you will assist DVA claims assessors to:

  • Provide clinical health advice and education to veterans and their families.
  • Advise on appropriate clinical treatment, including the provision of aids and appliances within the DVA health entitlements regime, as required.
  • Provide specialised clinical, business and policy advice.
  • Provide advice to support program and provider audit/reviews under an agreed assurance procedural framework.
  • Respond to health evidence queries from business areas within DVA.
  • Liaise with external providers in relation to requests for services under an agreed procedural framework.
  • Participate in ongoing education and quality improvement activities, as required.
  • Undertake other clinical advice and quality assurance activities, as required.

About you


We're looking for Exercise Physiologist keen to move into a role without any direct patient contact and comfortable working from a multidisciplinary office in the CBD.


Please note:

You must be an Australian citizen and be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance from the Defence security and vetting service.


We're looking for Exercise Physiologist's who have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Physiology
  • Membership of an Australian peak body association and evidence of at least 5 years current clinical experience
  • Strong critical analysis skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with both clinical and nonclinical professionals.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity and judgement in dealing with client related issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a productive team member.

  • You must be an Australian citizen and be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance from the Defence security and vetting service.

  • An understanding of DVA processes and the services available to veterans and their families.
  • A specific interest in clinical areas most relevant to DVA (e.g. primary health care, musculoskeletal medicine, mental health, geriatrics, rehabilitation).
