About the role

Due to an internal promotion, we have a fantastic opportunity for a hands on, proactive and commercially savvy Commercial Manager to join our supportive global operations team. You enjoy the challenge of effectively managing the value of service in relations to the current market value. Reviewing the cost to operate and challenge the value of goods and service, to further the success and growth of KING.

This is a pivotal role where your will also manage the day-to-day operations of 3PL's nationally, as well as the material purchasing and the cost of operations in line with service level agreements.

Reporting to the Global Warehouse and Logistics Manager and partnering with the Manufacturing, Warehouse and Distribution and operations team, your ability to analyse, deep dive into the data, fact find using your strong stakeholder relationships across the business, will enable you to find the best solutions to support and grow with the business globally.

You are operations minded with strong commercial acumen, focused and have extensive experience working in large multinational manufacturing/warehousing/supply chain/3PL organisations, where you have implemented, developed and refined analytical reporting, to track, forecast and identify the best value business proposition.

Your Typical Day

  • Oversee and analyse the day-to-day operational cost of the warehouses and 3PL as well as the customer order fulfilment functions and associated processes/procedures.
  • Provide and meet weekly reporting deadlines and refine forecasted costs.
  • Analyse the cost of business in relation to the 3PL operations and introduce savings and cost reductions where necessary.
  • Negotiation with suppliers in creation of contracts regarding warehouse and transportation rates, requirements, and quality levels.
  • Review and evaluate effectiveness and efficiency of current transport and warehouse projects, identify efficiencies, and implement solutions to meet KING market standards and industry standards. (mainly surrounding the DOL brand).
  • Review shipping rate cards and manage container costs and contracts.
  • Collect analyses and make recommendations about timeliness, cost, types of goods, etc.
  • Lead and develop staff relationships and third-party labour hire to ensure safe product handling and ensure WH&S safe work practices are adhered to.
  • Supply first class service, both internally, to all areas of the business and externally to KING customers and suppliers.

About you

  • You will have a Bachelor of Business Admin/Commerce or Project Management
  • 3-5 years demonstrated experience as Commercial Manager in a Warehouse/Distribution, Logistics, 3PL or Freight Forwarding industry
  • Mandarin background and understanding of culture (nice to have but not essential)
  • Tech savvy with reporting, advanced Excel, Power BI and worked with large ERP systems (SAP preferable)
  • Solid understanding of budgets, P&L, forecasting and high commercial acumen
  • Hands on, strong technical expert who is collaborative with a strong commitment to meeting tight deadlines
  • Team focused, with the ability to work with a team or independently, are approachable and flexible
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written with high stakeholder and relationship management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail and analytical mindset
  • Positive mindset with a sense of humour and a passion for continuous improvement around cost saving initiatives
  • Big picture thinker with a strong focus on ensuring operational and financial performance
