The Surgical, Endoscopy and Anaesthesia Service has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated leader, who is interested in pursuing a senior leadership development opportunity to cover the Sunshine Joan Kirner NUM role from _6_th_ June _st_ January 2026 _(18th Month fixed term position).


The Joan Kirner (JK) Theatre at Sunshine Hospital aims to provide efficient, effective, integrated care that is responsive to the needs of our culturally diverse patient group.

JK Theatre admits and provides care for patients during and after the following procedures:
Obstetric and Gynecologically and Paediatric (General, ENT and Ortho) procedures.

The theatre also has admission area for all patients who are presenting for surgery/ procedures which will require a multi-day stay post operatively.

The theatre consists of 4 theatres, 1 procedure room, associated admission, recovery and discharge areas.

Joan Kirner NUM role is responsible for the operational, professional and clinical service management of their staff resources.

The NUM will achieve this through the development of effective partnerships, leadership and management of all nursing staff and resources, within a multidisciplinary team environment.


To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated leadership capability
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience as Registered Nurse with Perioperative postgraduate qualification and/or management/leadership qualifications
  • Advanced clinical nursing skills with relevant experience in Perioperative Nursing
  • Knowledge of relevant Legislation and ACCORN Compliance requirements
