About the role

We're seeking a Senior Accountant – Accounting Policy and Advisory to provide support in updating group accounting policies and procedures, technical accounting guidance to various parts of the business, major development projects (including acquisitions) and debt / equity market activities.

Working closely with the Accounting Policy and Advisory Leads, you'll assist in the assessment and resolution of significant accounting matters across the Group. This is a truly collaborative role, where you will engage with various stakeholders across other corporate functions of the business such as Treasury, Corporate Finance, Planning and Performance, Accounting Services and Reporting, Forecasting and Analytics, having input in driving key business outcomes.

Day-to-day, you will:

Assist the Accounting Policy and Advisory Leads in establishing and managing general accounting policies and proceduresApply technical facets of IFRS principles to new transactions, reporting and regulatory issues and provide clear guidance to Operations for changes in accounting and budget / forecasting required for new transactions, reporting and regulatory issuesBe heavily involved in the half year and year-end annual reports, playing a lead role in the preparation of the Group's financial results (complex group disclosures)Assist the Accounting Policy and Advisory Leads with finance related activities during the debt and equity raising process to fund new major developments and acquisitionsAssist the Accounting Policy and Advisory Leads with technical accounting analysis for complex issues arising from business development activity, mergers and acquisitions, organisational change and change in regulatory requirementsDevelop a greater level of technical accounting knowledge across the broader Transurban Accounting Group.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

Tertiary Accounting qualifications plus CPA/CA qualifications (or international equivalent)5-7 years of relevant experience in a professional services or large/complex Corporate environmentPrevious exposure to more complex financial exercises and structuring e.g. Large Group Consolidation, Financial Instruments etcAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy the challenges a growing business can throw your wayExcellent attention to detail and ability to provide accurate information to key stakeholdersExcellent report writing and communication skillsYou can identify problems before they arise, and independently investigate or adjust before they become a bigger issue (and escalate when needed)Commercially astute, engaging and a natural builder of relationships, you'll enjoy getting on the front foot, embedding yourself in the business and connecting with stakeholders to achieve business outcomes
