Job Purpose


The Train Control System (TCS) Maintenance and Support Technician will assist the TCS Maintenance Manager and broader UGL Regional Linx Network Operations team in the operations of SigView Train Control System (TCS), specifically in conducting scheduled maintenance tasks on the ICT equipment, software and networks and corrective maintenance tasks, troubleshooting and fault finding in case of system issues.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for first line technical support of the SigView Train Control System, including managing the interfaces between UGLRL's subcontractors, UGLRL operational and technical representatives.
  • Monitoring of systems (proactive and reactive) and provision of timely information to internal and external stakeholders consistent with agreed criticality.
  • Effective triage of alarms and faults presented by the Train Control System as well as issues reported by users of the system, consistent with agreed O&M procedures.
  • Effective troubleshooting, diagnosis of root cause and correction of the fault in a timely manner through the coordination of resources and repair and return to service times agreed with the Customer.
  • Identification of type of support required (hardware, software or network) and prompt identification of events that require the assistance of the UGL Level 2 or Level 3 support / Vendor support.
  • Conduct health checks and preventative maintenance of the Train Control System utilising the Technical Maintenance Plans on a periodic basis and recording results and escalation of potential issues.
  • Provide network administration support (maintenance, establishing connections, interface configuration, point of contact for client, troubleshoot network devices, etc).

Qualifications

  • Relevant educational and technical qualifications, or a combination of experience and education
  • On the job training will be provided in the various train control systems and components
  • Previous experience in ICT, rail, operations & maintenance, engineering or mining environment would be desirable
