Our client is a growing consulting firm based in Parramatta, New South Wales. They specialize in providing business mentoring and consulting services to small and medium business owners, assisting them in achieving growth and success.

The company is in search of a Senior Accountant with strong communication and organizational abilities.

The perfect candidate should have demonstrated expertise in organizing and processing working papers throughout the accounting cycle and meeting compliance standards.

Your Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare a variety of accounting work papers including Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger Maintenance, and Bookkeeping Balance sheet reconciliations. Manage Accounts Payable/Receivable.
  • Process up to the Trial Balance stage and compile financial statements for submission to the Australian Taxation Office.
  • Generate monthly/quarterly management accounts and reports on superannuation and income forecasts.
  • Record asset, liability, revenue, and expense entries by analyzing account information.
  • Balance subsidiary accounts and the general ledger, verify, allocate, post, reconcile transactions, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Produce payroll by starting computer processing, printing checks, and verifying the final product.
  • Assist in external audit by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts and providing information to auditors.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the organization's information.
  • Conduct research, analysis, development, and summarization of financial information for auditing and financial reporting purposes. Manage the financial administration and reporting of federal and state grants.
  • Prepare statutory financial accounts and regulatory returns for self-managed superannuation funds.
  • Reconcile asset holdings and process corporate actions.
  • Prepare minimum and maximum pension calculations, as well as generate income for all investments and auto-match income.

Administrative, Tax Management & Reporting:

  • Prepare and finalize required tax reports and update tax provision schedules promptly.
  • Develop tax strategies to postpone or eliminate tax payments.
  • Handle individual tax returns, trust, partnership tax returns, and end-of-year compliance tasks.
  • Reconcile GST transactions passed through the fund with unpaid accounts to the ATO. Manually match any remaining transactions and create rules for recurring transactions.
  • Identify and correct process errors leading to incorrect tax filings and negotiate with tax authorities regarding tax payment concerns.
  • Supervise junior staff, maintain open communication channels within management to achieve objectives.

To qualify for this position, the successful candidate must possess the following key attributes, skills, and strengths:

Your Technical and Relevant Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accountancy
  • CPA qualification or in progress
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Preference for familiarity with accounting software such as XERO, XPM, FYI Docs
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools or similar software
