Loss Prevention Clerk - Auburn, NSW (Part-time)

Sydney - West

  • Protects company assets from internal and external theft.
  • Observes and reports potential safety and security hazards.
  • Investigates potential theft, detains suspects, maintains evidence, and completes incident reports.

Description of position:

Guarding the company's assets against both internal and external theft is the primary duty of this role. Vigilance in identifying and reporting possible safety and security risks is essential. The incumbent is responsible for probing suspected theft incidents, detaining suspects if necessary, preserving evidence, and compiling detailed incident reports. Collaboration with local law enforcement authorities in ongoing investigations and offering court testimony when required forms part of the role. Attendance at loss prevention-related meetings and seminars is expected. Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, the LP clerk must adhere to established safety and security protocols and provide swift, courteous customer service.

Daily tasks and responsibilities:

  • Regular patrols of the warehouse and its surroundings to ensure safety and security.
  • Comprehensive understanding and adherence to Costco guidelines and relevant laws concerning loss prevention activities. Participating in related meetings and seminars is mandatory.
  • Detection and investigation of internal and external theft risks. Prompt reporting of internal theft suspicions to the Warehouse Manager. Involvement in the Shrink Committee.
  • Apprehension and interrogation of shoplifters when justified.
  • Preparation of reports for internal use and potential legal processes.
  • Management of evidence and documentation acquired during investigations.
  • Providing court testimony regarding theft investigations.
  • Communication with fellow Costco Loss Prevention Clerks and security personnel from neighboring businesses to share insights on current theft trends.
  • Adherence to prescribed Member Service, safety, and security protocols. Assisting in other warehouse departments as required.
  • Delivering prompt and courteous service to members, employees, and vendors. Handling calls and aiding callers while in the office.

Non-Essential Functions and Tasks:

  • Supporting front end operations when needed.
  • Assisting in various warehouse departments as requested.

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry-specific skills that candidates should possess):

  • Education/Training: High school diploma or higher, with a valid NSW security license.
  • Experience: Background in Loss Prevention, security, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Completion of Floor inspection Training before commencing work in the Department.
