The central activities district is Melbourne's second largest retail and commercial centre and includes large shopping complexes at Dandenong and Keysborough as well as the highly popular Dandenong Market.

Greater Dandenong City Council is the most culturally diverse locality in Australia, with residents from over 150 different birthplaces, nearly two-thirds of whom were born overseas.

Key industries include manufacturing, health care and social assistance, retail trade, wholesale trade and transport.

We are a progressive organisation of exceptional character that offers a dynamic and rewarding work environment to approximately 900 employees.

We recognise that our staff are vital to the delivery of excellent service to our community and the achievement of our long-term vision.

We invest in the development of our people, and we strive to be a workplace that is respectful, engaged, accountable, creative and honest.

About the role

This exciting employment project was established in Dandenong in 2018 to enhance employment outcomes for people keen to work but experiencing multiple, complex barriers.

Focused on Dandenong, Doveton and surrounds, this project is now moving from a programmatic to a strategic response, seeking to improve the local employment ecosystem in the medium to longer term.

About you

The coordination role requires a range of skills and abilities including the capability to cultivate excellent working relationships with key stakeholders, experience in community engagement and the ability to work with community partners for collaborative solutions.

Working with the oversight of a steering committee, your knowledge of this region and an ability to connect people and encourage collaboration and 'collective' solutions will be essential.

Your ability to liaise with employers at all levels, together with a sound knowledge of the employment landscape is required - as are excellent communication and report writing skills.

Applicants must adequately meet the requirements of the role and fully address the selection criteria contained in the position description.

Benefits of working with us
