The Cloud Network engineer will have a strong background in cloud-based networking concepts, technologies, and solutions with expertise in managing a variety of network security and optimization tools. This is a crucial operations role supporting Network Infrastructure, ensuring reliability, availability, security, and performance.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Configure and manage Firewalls, appliances, and other devices in the network to enforce security policies and optimize network traffic
  • Deploy and manage SD-WAN networks products, optimizing connectivity and performance across distributed locations
  • Monitor and analyse network traffic, performance, and security events, identifying and mitigating potential issues and vulnerabilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement network architectures that support business requirements and objectives, working closely with the head of cloud platform engineering to ensure best practises are followed
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues, providing timely and effective support to end-users and stakeholders
  • Implement and maintain network security controls and protocols to protect against cyber threats and unauthorized access
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure Azure governance (including., networking, policy, and security concepts).
  • Provide input with solution design, and implementation of security controls with Azure networking and CloudFlare.
  • Support the Head of IT Operations manage supplier relationships by generating data as needed to hold suppliers accountable for their levels of service
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and configurations, ensuring accuracy and completeness
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in cloud-based networking, and make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to junior team members, fostering professional growth and development
  • Capable of working with multiple programming languages for multiple purposes. Experience in ARM templates, PowerShell and Python and DevOps practices to deploy and manage Infrastructure as code
  • Engage with Network MSP to create, update and deploy changes as per the ITIL Process.
  • Participate incidents/problems including chairing incident post-mortem activities, apply fixes, resolve systematic issues, and suggest best Industry practices
  • Provide L2/L3 support for services in scope
  • Working a 24x7 on-call roster to support Business-critical systems and major incident escalations outside business hours via on-call roster
  • Provide inputs and reviews to the Design process for cloud-based networking solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, performance from operational lens
  • Act as a 2IC in absence of Head of IT Operations

About you:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, preferable major in Networking
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet is extremely desirable
  • Framework certifications – ITIL or similar
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing Fortigate Firewalls, Azure Firewall, and SD-WAN networks
  • Powershell scripting, IaC and Terraform is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of cloud-based networking concepts, architectures, and technologies, including virtual networks, VPNs, load balancers, and DNS.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Proficiency in network routing and switching protocols, including BGP, OSPF, VLANs.
  • Solid understanding of network security principles and best practices, including encryption, authentication, and access control.
  • Extensive experience in using the following technologies:

Cisco Routing and Switching
Cisco Service Provider networking.
Fortigate firewall and switches experience is essential
Load balancer - Azure Traffic Manager, Azure Load balancer is desirable
WAF,DNS, certificate management
Experience with Azure DevOps is desirable

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyse complex network issues and implement effective solutions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and results-driven attitude
  • Any experience with network security is an advantage
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and consultative skills, and the ability to communicate concepts to technical and non-technical audience
