What You Will Be Doing

The Clinical Psychology Registrar position is a 12-18 month rotational program designed to support psychology registrars to gain experience working in public mental health, people with severe and enduring mental illness, and work towards meeting the Australian Psychology Board requirements for the Masters or Doctoral level registrar programs. This initiative is part of the Allied Health Graduate and Registrar Program aligned to the Royal Commission into Victoria's Public Mental Health Services recommendations.

The Clinical Registrar Program includes rotations within teams, across the clinical areas (Acute, Community, In-Patient and Rehabilitation). The clinical areas and teams will be decided collaboratively, based on the clinical registrars' area of interest, experience needed and team availability. There is the option to work full-time or part-time. Psychology registrars who are currently completing the registrar program are encouraged to apply.

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:

• Full registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (obtained by start date of the program).

• Masters or Doctoral level qualification in Clinical Psychology, approved by the Psychology Board of Australia.

• Interest in working within public mental health.

• Interest in taking part in a Registrar Program and engaging in discipline specific work alongside a structured education, learning, supervision and support program

• Willingness to work towards obtaining endorsement within the specified time period.

• Understating of legal and ethical issues, compliance with Australian Psychological Society Code of Ethics and willingness to learn about the Mental Health Act.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with people experiencing severe and enduing mental illness.

• A sound understating of legal and ethical issues and compliance with Australian Psychological Society Code of Ethics.
