Located in the prestigious wine region of Australia, Sevenhill Cellars stands out as the only Jesuit winery globally, boasting a rich history and a stellar reputation in tourism.

Producing both sacramental and table wines for Australia and selected export markets, this integrated venture manages vineyards and crafts a range of market-driven, award-winning wines available nationally, including through the on-site cellar door.



About the Australian Province:

Established by St. Ignatius Loyola over 480 years ago, the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) is an international religious order within the Catholic Church.

The Jesuit legacy in Australia traces back to 1848, with the Australian Province now comprising over 90 Jesuits active across 30 ministries, working alongside 1,800 individuals who share the vision of faith-based service and justice promotion.



The Role:

The General Manager will play a key role as a supportive resource, aiding informed decision-making for the Sevenhill Board while ensuring proper management and governance of Sevenhill Cellars.

This role demands strong commercial acumen in the wine industry, extensive sales expertise, a collaborative attitude, and top-notch interpersonal skills.



Primary Responsibilities:
  • Professionally managing Sevenhill Cellars in alignment with the Board's directives and legal requirements, all while upholding the Jesuit Mission.
  • Executing and continually reviewing the nine-year strategic plan to secure the longevity and prosperity of Sevenhill Cellars.
  • Overseeing financial performance, risk, and compliance, ensuring adherence to standards such as WHS, Food Safety, and environment, with a focus on revenue streams and cost management.
  • Safeguarding and elevating the Society of Jesus' reputation by honoring the Jesuits' heritage at Sevenhill.
  • Developing strategic partnerships and commercial agreements with key stakeholders nationally and internationally.
  • Providing timely and accurate reports to the Board.
  • Leading the Management Team and supervising vineyard, winery, cellar door, bottling, and sales operations.
