About the Role

The Imaging Technician (ELIC) at the Equine Lameness and Imaging Centre, University of Melbourne's Werribee campus, plays a pivotal role in delivering gold-standard equine clinical and research imaging, lameness investigation, and surgery support.

This position is integral to ensuring efficient imaging technical services and nursing assistance to veterinarians and researchers, with a keen eye on quality assurance and service excellence.

Your responsibilities will include:

Coordinate the day-to-day operations of diagnostic imaging within ELIC to ensure timely and efficient imaging services. Ensure excellent delivery of lameness and imaging services, patient care and efficient nursing assistance to veterinarians and researchers in a timely manner in accordance with best practice. Work closely with the Advanced Imaging Technician and Professor (Equine Orthopaedics) and relevant staff to ensure appropriate allocation of resources to conduct imaging services. Operate imaging equipment within the Equine Lameness and Imaging Centre in accordance with radiation and operational safety protocols. Produce, processes and store images from diagnostic imaging procedures.

Who We Are Looking For
You will demonstrate a genuine passion for horses, experience handling horses and exhibit professionalism, enthusiasm, initiative, and a proactive attitude toward learning new skills and tasks.

You will also have:

Completion of a relevant Certificate IV or Diploma in Veterinary Nursing, with relevant experience in a similar role. Proven knowledge and familiarity with the Code of Practice for Radiation Protection in Veterinary Medicine to ensure compliance with operation of imaging equipment. Proven veterinary nursing experience working with equine patients gained in the veterinary industry. Demonstrated experience in equine radiography, scintigraphy and/or CT. Proven animal handling skills in a veterinary clinical environment, and in particular horse-handling skills and experience gained within the equine industry.
