Data Analyst:

  • CBD, WA, AU 1 Sep 2023We currently have a wonderful opportunity for a Data Analyst at our Perth Head Office, on a permanent, fulltime basis.


This is a unique and exciting time to be a part of the Tech & Data Services team at Western Power.

We are at the forefront of the energy transition in leveraging existing and new technologies, including microgrid, stand-alone power systems (SPS), battery storage solutions and incorporating increased levels of renewable energy such as roof top solar into the energy system.

We're transforming the electricity network ensuring a cleaner, brighter and more resilient energy supply for the next generation.


We're also working hard on enabling the decarbonisation of the energy system by converting more of our energy consumption to electricity, including electric vehicles (EVs) as well as other initiatives to enable industry sectors to reduce emissions by making the switch.


We support Western Power's objectives through fit-for-purpose data so the business can extract maximum value from our assets in any work location.

We need your support to ensure appropriate techniques and tools are used to deliver solutions to the business that they can use to generate insights that yield better & faster decisions, using data they can trust and understand.

About this role


As a Data Analyst you will be responsible for performing analytical technical tasks, including data interpretation and analysis, configuration, commissioning, operation and maintenance on enterprise asset management systems and GIS.

You will also assist with the evaluation, analysis, testing and reporting on asset information systems and with investigations on methods or processes of work and data quality.

  • Advise on the best use of your time to meet planned outputs
  • Responsible for performing required analytical technical tasks, including data interpretation and analysis, configuration, commissioning, operation and maintenance on asset management systems and GIS
  • To assist and support with the evaluation, analysis, testing and reporting on asset information systems and with investigations on methods or processes of work and data quality
  • Assist in identifying performance improvements of asset information systems and processes
  • Assist with asset data interpretation, asset information system configuration, commissioning and maintenance
  • Contribute to initiatives to improve asset data management processes relating to asset data acquisition, recording and usage.

About you
We are seeking someone with experience and attributes that include:

  • Tertiary qualification in or progression towards a relevant degree in GIS, IT, Data Analytics or Electrical Drafting or related discipline and or extensive industry relevant experience is essential
  • A minimum of 3+ years demonstrated technical experience and knowledge in data management and analytics, GIS or a related field
  • Safety policies and procedures knowledge
  • Sound work planning, time management and data analytical skills
  • Good communication skills with the ability to engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working with Esri/ArcGIS and or Hitachi Energy Ellipse systems highly desirable
