L&D Contracting is a privately owned EBA contracting company with a well-known reputation in the building industry. We have successfully executed over 300 projects in Brisbane, facilitating all facets of civil works, including large multi-level basements, bulk excavation, shoring, detailed excavation, remediation, demolition, storm water drainage, roads, and car parks.

About the Role:

We are looking for a focused individual with good communication skills, and the ability to think strategically to ensure projects run smoothly. It is essential to have several years of civil supervisory experience within medium to large civil works projects, as well as a vast understanding of earthworks. Your duties will encompass supervising Labour, operators, subcontractors, and proving guidance to apprentices, and junior engineers onsite.

Given the majority of our projects are within tier one projects, it would be highly regarded if you have experience within EBA projects or have an understanding of industrial relations.

Roles and Responsibilities of the Civil Earthworks Supervisor will include:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Providing confident and competent leadership to labourers, operators, and subcontractors.
  • Delivering projects safely, cost effectively, on time and on budget.
  • Identify any issues that may increase the costs of the project, and implement mitigation strategies in consultation with office management (GM, Directors, CM, PE, etc)
  • Planning of upcoming works on-site to ensure the project stays on programme.
  • Liaise with other subcontractors on-site and coordinate resource allocation with management for any hire work on your projects.
  • Maintain and understanding of technical aspects of your project; Interpret specifications, civil, structural, and architectural drawings to ensure all works are in accordance with the design.
  • Manage OH&S, Quality, Environmental, and industrial relations issues on your projects.
  • Document any delays, as well as the progress of works daily in electronic daily reports.
  • Attending onsite subcontractor, and internal management meetings.

To be considered for the role of Civil Earthworks Supervisor you will require:

  • 5+ years' experience in Bulk Earthworks, Basements, Roads, Carpark and Stormwater projects.
  • A proven background within civil construction which will include extensive experience within earthworks.
  • Extensive experience as a stand-alone supervisor across multiple civil projects up to $30 million
  • Relevant tickets for excavator operations ie grader, excavator (not essential but highly desirable)
  • The ability to communicate and manage Labour onsite to create a productive team environment.
  • A Strong commitment to driving safety and positive workplace culture will be very highly regarded.
  • Excellent communication skills with colleagues, subcontractors, clients and other stakeholders.
  • Basic understanding of computer programs (i.e Outlook for daily reports)

Qualifications:

  • Other industry related technical qualifications in construction.
  • Plant operation licenses, and competencies highly regarded.
  • A current driver's license.
  • Current construction inductions (White Card)
