QUT You is a university wide curriculum being developed for our undergraduate students and provide a transformative experience that enables students to create positive impacts of broader society whilst fostering a sense of belonging and connection.

Real Action for Real Change is one of the new QUT You offerings designed to challenge students to explore and engage with a social, health, political or environmental issue of interest to develop a plan for action.


We are looking to establish a pool of Sessional Academics who can support the curriculum development, learning and teaching of this unit.

Specifically we are looking for people who can (under the guidance of the project team) help to:

  • Develop case studies highlighting examples of change campaigns or actions that have had a positive (or negative) impact on society
  • Develop assessment guides for students
  • Develop teaching resources that build students capabilities in areas such as teamwork, reflective practice etc

Successful applicants will have the following:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent)
  • At least 2 years' experience in teaching & learning (in any discipline)
  • Demonstrated expertise in the broad areas of social action, social movements and/or equivalent fields.
  • Computer, administrative and record keeping skills using software like Outlook, Canvas, and Excel
  • Ability to deal effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds using effective interpersonal skills with a proven capacity to communicate effectively
  • Ability to maintain high levels of professionalism, act with direction and maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of, and experience in adhering to workplace policies and procedures in the areas of work health safety, equity, diversity and promoting a respectful workplace culture.

Note:
The content development needs to be mostly undertaken in April/May.

  • The position will report to the QUT003 leadership and development team on a weekly basis, with the hours to be worked per week negotiated with the successful applicant/s.
  • Position will be paid at Sessional Academic rates (CAAAR or CAAAS for PhD holder). Salary rates can be found here.
