DUTY STATEMENT

Primary Purpose of Position:
To assist with providing daily catering to students and staff living on College. The position will involve the skills and experience to assist in the daily operation of the college kitchen and dining room

  • Prepare food and set up servery and dining room for service hours


Stock Control
  • Rotation and putting stock away
  • Ensure all cutleries, crockery, pots, pans, cooking equipment placed in wash area are properly and hygienically cleaned, rinsed, dried and restacked.
  • Ensure the kitchen & dining room is kept clean and hygienic at all times


EXPECTATIONS:


  • To understand and comply with Workplace Health and Safety employee responsibilities.
  • To maintain a valid Positive Notice Blue Card for Child Related Employment.
  • Participate in safe manual handling practices.
  • To observe and comply with Health and Safety and Food Hygiene Practices.
  • The employee must wear protective clothing hat /hair coverings, aprons, nonslip closed in shoes.
  • To meet the College's dress standards as well as ensuring standards with personal hygiene and grooming are consistently met.
  • To provide an excellent level of customer service to the students and staff.
PERFORMANCE

EXPECTATIONS:


  • To report to work as per roster and on time and work extra hours when required.
  • To be able to determine that the acceptable standard of work assigned is achieved on completion of shift.
  • To uphold good standards to ensure a safe, clean and pleasant working environment.
  • To be a proactive team member by offering assistance to other kitchen staff and be flexible in assisting other staff when they are busy and need help.
  • Ensure that equipment is used and maintained as directed and immediately report any equipment malfunction or breakdown and take corrective action.
  • Report and/or request repairs within work area
  • Report immediately to the Kitchen Manager, the occurrence of any accident, incident or potential hazard.
  • Operate equipment according to instructions.
  • Place safety signs out when cleaning
  • Comply with hand washing procedures and the use of protective clothing.
  • Maintain acceptable hygiene standard at all times.
  • When prep is finished, label, date, rotate and store all items properly; return bulk items to walkin cooler as you are prepping to ensure items are kept out of the temperature danger zone.
  • Prepped items should be stored for easy access at the same time ensuring to rotate older items to the front.
  • Store cleaning items in secure lockable storage supplied.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent accidents and/or damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Assist with deliveries as and when required
  • To clear used operating equipment for washing in accordance with systems in use.
  • Replenish supplies such as paper towels, soaps and chemicals.

  • Plate late meals.
  • Cleaning, sanitizing and refilling of coffee and other drink machines.
  • Wash dishes and put clean dishes away in designated areas as they are cleaned.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment using chemicals provided.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment which has been in use.
  • Empty rubbish bins and transport rubbish to disposal areas.
  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect all areas related to refuse.
  • Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.
