Position Purpose
The Cyber security specialist is responsible for supporting company's cyber security program by providing security architecture services, security technology support and expertise in identifying risks and risk mitigation strategies.
The security specialist ensures proposed security solutions are secure by design by conducting threat and risk analysis, advising controls, and ensuring solutions comply with company policies and standards.
When security requirements cannot be met, the Security Specialist explores and advises alternative strategies and escalates any risk through senior management.
The security specialist also provides technology advice, by conducting analysis and research and presenting findings as options at senior management/architecture forums.
The role also supports day-to-day security operations as required, including ensuring security policies and procedures are followed, reviewing audit findings, and assisting with threat monitoring/response activities.
Key Accountabilities
Health and Safety
- Ensure your safety, and the safety of those around you by complying with all safe work practices, policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Lead and role model a culture of zero harm through the effective management of risk and, in close consultation with the wider company teams, ensure the ongoing development of processes and programmes that provide a safe working environment for team members, customers and visitors alike
- In close association with the Health, Safety & Wellbeing Team and segment/business unit people leaders, develop and implement initiatives that promote safer work practices and behaviours including the identification of hazards, coupled with the systematic implementation of corrective actions that reduce or eliminate the risk of harm
Cyber Uplift Program
- Contributes to the gathering of requirements, development or RFP's and highlevel cyber security solutions
- Identifies risks and issues that may arise during the implementation of the solutions and collaborates with stakeholders to address them effectively
- Stays current with industry and technology trends and provides informed advice accordingly.
Security & Architecture
- Performs architecture reviews, provide timely advice on required security controls, standards and requirements.
- Conduct other security governance activities such as security reviews and assessments where required.
- Reviews outcomes of security testing, audit reports and advise remediation strategies.
- Provides technology advice and recommendations at architecture forums.
- Support incident management activities as required
Project & Risk Management
- Conducts (IT Service provider/vendor) risk assessments and advise risk findings and risk treatment strategies.
- Maintains risk register, ensuring risks are clearly articulated, managed according to policy and the board's risk tolerances.
- Supports governance processes to ensuring deliverables are compliant and within guidelines.
- Reports on risks and issues management
- Support audit and compliance remediation activities in relation to Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
Reporting
- Coordinate collection of data and draft monthly executive reports
- Contributes to the creation of and maintenance of the company controls catalogue
Training & Change Management
- Collaborates with the broader Company IT community across the business to drive a positive security culture.
Other duties as required to fulfil the position
- Stays abreast of technology trends and threats impacting the retail industry.

Experience:
The security specialist has had broad exposure in the cybersecurity field and can demonstrate experience in 3 or more of the following domains:
- Technology
- experience designing and implementing security solutions in complex environments, including network security, endpoint security, threat detection, and identity and access systems.
- Risk Assessment experience in conducting threat and risk analysis and developing an advising risk mitigation strategies
- Security infrastructure support
- Security Operations experience in threat hunting, incident response and invest
