Nanny & Home Helper

• Hello We are a warm and friendly family of 5 living in Blackburn with a 7 year old boy (grade 1), a 4 year old girl (4yo kindergarten) and a baby boy who'll be 1 in August. Mum works in IT and Dad works for himself running a manufacturing business. We live in a leafy part of Blackburn on a block that's big enough to stay home /in the backyard if you feel like hanging at home, but also is walking distance to a playground, the library, a cafe and the shops. Our eldest son is silly once he knows you but is quiet and shy at first, and loves to draw and play lego. He loves the trampoline & sports but is less boisterous than a typical 7 year old when at home. Our daughter is more social, loves music and imaginary games, and to bake. Our youngest is very cuddly and already has a little sense of humour, likes being read books, taken outside for walks in the pram or in the swing in our backyard. He still has 23 naps a day and has started solids but also takes an expressed bottle when Mum isn't home. Our older two children are fairly independent in terms of dressing & feeding themselves, toileting and self directed play etc. A lot of the time they'll be happily (sometimes not so) playing together or alone in the backyard, the playroom or their rooms, and you just need to be around to supervise/be of help rather than having to entertain them. We're big believers in allowing children to be bored and just have unstructured down time, especially after kinder and school, and we find this along with a generally healthy diet helps the vibe in the house be as calm and as happy as it can be (it's always going to be a bit chaotic with 3 young kids around) Our baby obviously needs much more support but can get himself to sleep well for naps and is generally a happy little soul, and can also play by himself when set up with something for short periods. He needs more supervision as he is now crawling though. Our parenting style is less punitive (we don't do 'time outs' or 'naughty corners' or anything like that) and more respectful, while following a fairly consistent routine most days. We follow the ethos of people like Lael Stone's aware parenting, 'Good Inside' by Dr Becky, and Maggie Dent, Justin Coulson.

• The primary role is to care for our children; provide a nurturing environment and build a relationship where they can trust and come to you for help or fun. Examples of 'care' include school & kinder drop off and pick up (in our car), playing with them, preparing meals, taking them on outings when time allows, reading or having the children read their homework books to you, changing nappies, feeding our youngest a bottle, brushing hair or teeth, helping our daughter with the toilet, dressing, occasionally bathing. Our two eldest are often happy to entertain themselves, so often it will be a case of you being around and being a calming presence if they need you, but being in the background rather than actively playing unless they ask. As a second priority we require someone who can also help keep our homelife humming through helping with domestic tasks. These type of responsibilities would include meal prep and cooking, washing lunchboxes, dishes, unloading/packing dishwasher, tidying, making beds etc. No heavy cleaning required though.

Mondays - 7:4- 5:30: After helping the children get ready for the day, it will be school drop off then you'll be home with our 4 year old and the baby.

This day may end up including taking our daughter to something extra curricular like swimming or gymnastics in between the baby's naps.

Wednesdays - 7:30 - 5:30: Kinder drop off of our daughter, school drop off of our son, then home with the baby for the day until kinder & school pick up (2:45, 3:20pm).

He sleeps usually two naps a day and while he is napping you can help us get on top of our domestic to do list.

Ideally we'll have the same person for both days, but if you can only do one at this stage please be in touch as we'd be open to having to different people on each day if it suited.

• You'll ideally be really warm, engaging, responsible, switched on and proactive when it comes to both caring for children and house responsibilities. Having an understanding of the developmental stages of a 7, 4 & 1 year old and how to help them through big feelings would be a plus but not essential. Ultimately you'll be helping raise our children so we're looking for someone who is up for shaping their heads and hearts with some fun and laughter in the mix. We're wanting to partner with someone who can role model confidence, kindness, honesty, emotional regulation, compassion, manners, empathy and giving everything a go. We have relied on a mix of childcare / kinder & a nanny and find it works well for our family. Our current Nanny has a university schedule that won't
