The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the capacity to work within a multi-specialist team and deliver to tight timeframes and deadlines (and rapidly changing priorities).


Key responsibilities

  • Determine Business data migration requirements and the target solution's data migration requirements and undertake data mapping from legacy systems to the target solution (Dynamics 365).
  • Work with ETL Developers to build the data migration solution as specified in the data mapping.
  • Work with Developers, Business Analysts and Business representatives to profile the data in the source systems.
  • Participate in data extracts, transformations and load activities and validate the data has been migrated as specified.
  • Develop SQL to facilitate ETL activities, data quality reporting and data reconciliation/validation
  • Participate in defect management activities and facilitate the resolution of data migration defects.
  • Work with Business representatives to develop data reconciliation plans that will ensure the business will signoff the data migration at golive.
  • Manage the delivery of work to a schedule and assist in the setting and managing of expectations.
  • Use high level communication skills to negotiate, establish, and maintain networks and working relationships.
  • Contribute to business integration, change management, and testing activities.
  • Actively manage a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, antidiscrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
  • Take the Information and Data Architect conceptual data model and extend it to a logical and physical model as required.

Essential requirements

The applicant must demonstrate:

  • Demonstrated experience in defining data transformation rules, defining selection criteria for data ingestion, and identifying data quality issues.
  • Experience in eliciting, analysing, specifying, documenting and validating the business data needs of stakeholders.
  • Experience developing reports to monitor data quality issues and track data cleansing.
  • Experience in analysing data migration results to confirm they align with transformation rules, selection criteria, business data requirements and the solution's data requirements.
  • Ability to write complex SQL scripts, queries, and stored procedures.
  • Proven effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills and experience
  • Proven ability to manage a large workload whilst maintaining high levels of accuracy
  • Proven ability to do data modelling at the logical and physical layers.

Desirable requirements

  • Data and ETL experience especially with Microsoft Azure Cloud Data Platform (Azure Data Factory and Databricks).
  • Experience in developing complex reports, including consideration of complex business rules and data architecture.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the public sector Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Environment.
  • Consults and shares information and ensures others are kept informed of issues.
  • Experience in agile projects methodology.

  • Data Profiling Reports
  • Data Mapping (including transformation rules and configuration/reference data mapping)
  • Work with the business to document the Business Data Reconciliation Plans
  • Document and implement work package activities
