About the role

  • A vacancy currently exists for a Laboratory Assistant to perform basic processing duties in our Molecular Department at our Murarrie Laboratory. This Permanent Full Time position (76hrs per fortnight) will be required to work various shifts between the hours of 06:00am 01:06am, Monday to Friday plus rostered weekends and public holidays, and will join a friendly, professional team committed to patient care and scientific excellence.
Your key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Routine receipting and processing of specimens
  • Accessioning of specimens
  • Pre and post analytical specimen handling
  • Identification and prioritisation of urgent specimens
  • Filing and storage of specimens
  • Preparation of materials used for diagnostic tests
  • Assist with quality control procedures
  • Equipment maintenance and cleaning
  • Stock control
  • Manual handling and heavy lifting required Compliance and adherence with QML Pathology policies and procedures, and Workplace Health and Safety procedures
