Governance Specialist

Total Package $132,393.04 per annum (inclusive of super guarantee)


Here is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic and close-knit Governance and Procurement Team which takes great pride in delivering expert advice and guidance to Western Australia's Local Government sector.


There will be opportunities to travel throughout WA to deliver customised workshops, promote WALGA's Governance function, attend WALGA Zone meetings and networking.

This role collaborates in developing webinars and providing content expertise to WALGA's suite of Local Government Elected Member and Officer training modules (WALGA is a Registered Training Organisation).


What will make you successful in this role?

  • Demonstrated understanding of the Local Government Act's legislative and regulatory impact on the functions, operations and compliance responsibilities of Local Governments
  • Demonstrated experience in researching and analysing legislation and regulation
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a broad range of people and the ability to influence stakeholders
  • High standard of written communication skills to develop training modules, compile reports, correspondence and resources suitable for different target audiences
  • Good time management, prioritisation and organisational skills
  • High degree of problemsolving ability
  • Legal qualification and/or experience in a legal capacity will be highly regarded
There is the opportunity for travel in this role. A 'C' class drivers' licence is required.
