In CBA Technology's Secure Network Services team, we lead in the application of cutting-edge technology and operations throughout all aspects of CommBank. This ranges from innovative product platforms for our customers to vital tools within our business.

Being part of the Secure Network Services team means you are a subject matter expert in your field, collaborating across the organization to architect, influence, and spearhead the development and design of network services. Your role involves contributing to roadmaps, evolving how network services are delivered, and leveraging your experience to support & troubleshoot user impacting incidents when needed.

Our team is accountable for providing top-notch network services that empower teams to operate from any location, at any time, and in any way to achieve superior business results. We oversee connectivity from end to end across the entire CBA branch & corporate network environment encompassing Australia and its global office sites.

You will collaborate with Product Owners, Service Managers, Architects, and other engineering experts to address intricate issues within user connectivity and security domains. The technologies you'll engage with encompass traditional network vendors (Palo Alto, CISCO, Riverbed) along with integrating the finest open-source software to revolutionize how network services are developed and maintained.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will have the freedom to expand your skills in the role. Your dedication is pivotal to ensuring that network services within the Network portfolio set the industry standard.

We are looking for individuals who
  • Can offer innovative ideas to evolve and uphold network services
  • Can devise product roadmaps, network architectures, and service documentation incorporating current and emerging trends
  • Can steer and implement automation solutions to enable network self-service usage
  • Can cultivate and support programs for implementing Zero Trust security architecture
  • Can mentor engineers to enhance their skills and performance
  • Can establish a top-tier network operations model

Technical Proficiency

We utilize a wide array of tools, languages, and frameworks. While expertise in all is not expected, familiarity with some (or equivalent) will prepare you for success in this team:
  • Considerable experience contributing to system design or architecture of network systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling)
  • Expertise in presenting complex technical solutions to senior stakeholders
  • Lead involvement in constructing complex network systems that have been effectively delivered to customers
  • Proven track record in Network experience spanning over 10 years as an Engineer, configuring and maintaining networks (firewalls, switches, routers, wireless access points)
  • Proficiency in implementing, administering, and supporting Software Defined Network (SD-WAN, SD-LAN) technologies
  • Solid experience in network scripting and automation skills like API scripting, PowerShell scripting, Web hook integration, Ansible, Python, Net DevOps, and CI/CD pipeline creation etc.
  • Experience in developing and deploying network and security policies such as QoS, firewall, IDS/IPS, URL filtering, NAC
  • Experience operating in a large enterprise
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux Systems

Desired Skills
  • Project and Service Management of network services
  • Architecture Certification (eg. TOGAF)
  • Experience working in a multi-vendor outsource environment with Financial Services organizations
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding best practices
  • Hands-on experience in a leadership role within a team
