The Business


The business is essentially an investment group that focuses on buying assets (and running operations) within a specific market sector.

Revenues are approx. $300m, with multi-site, multi-country operations, 1000+ H/C (APAC) and a small APAC leadership team who work across the region.

The Role - Regional Head of HR - APAC
The role is a broad generalist with regional responsibility across ANZ & Southeast Asia (SEA) for all HR matters.

There is always a lot happening in the business regarding growth, acquisitions, integrations, change management, so it's a constantly moving organisation with a lot of pace, ambiguity and change to be managed.

In addition to the day-to-day there will be various projects and interesting work to focus upon. You will manage an HR team of approximately 12 people (spread across four countries) with four direct reports.


Core competencies required for the role beyond the expected generalist HR competence include a proactive style, a very strategic and commercial outlook, high work ethic (with pace), a hands-on style when required plus the willingness and capability to delegate as appropriate, ability to uplift people performance across the region and make the tough decisions when required.

The use of data analytics within an HR context is important too.

An understanding that the business is the provider of a first-class service. However, as with all investors, one of the key drivers is value creation leading to a long-term sale. The drive for improvement, value creation and profit ultimately underpin the group.

The person


You may have experience gained within Private Equity, Investment Banking, Asset Management, Technology, High Growth Scale Ups, Consulting, or Change & Transformation.

Ideally combined with multi-site operations (although not a pre-requisite). A high pace and comfort within ambiguous and fluid working environments is key. You are a lifelong learner, confident operator, proactive and on the career growth curve.

Preferably APAC exposure (i.e. working across a regional / complex /matrix business), without the need not to have knowledge of regional labour laws, compliance etc. Alternatively, experience working within a global business and appreciation of cultural differences and working styles across the region. The ability and desire to operate independently without the need for day-to-day supervision are key.

Other points to note


Due to a significant New Zealand presence, you will be Auckland based preferably (unless you can travel regularly to Auckland).

Alternatively, you may be Australia/Sydney/APAC based in the short term and looking to return home to New Zealand for the medium to long-term.


They offer a hybrid model so you can WFH 100% of the time, or use one of the operations sites as a base for your office.

The parent company is in Europe (limited global calls however). Some travel will be required but it's not substantial. You will work for the group and act as the Regional Head of HR for their portfolio companies.

The base salary is in line with the market median, the benefits are excellent. The overall compensation package is excellent (within the upper quartile).
