About the role


The Work Health and Safety Officer will be responsible for implementing improvements to our client's Work Health and Safety functions.


Responsibilities:

  • Undertake research, development, and implementation of policy and practices related to WHS.
  • Deliver key WHS projects, including:
  • Plan and undertake a restructure of the WHS Management System framework and associated documents to ensure logical, easy-to-read, and find material that meets ISO 45001 requirements.
  • Undertake a review of the WHS reporting with a view to improving the presentation of information to management and the Health, Safety, and Environment Committee (HSEC) to enable continuous improvement of WHS programs and initiatives.
  • Undertake a review of current incident and hazard reporting forms to improve usability and enable improved analysis of data and trends.
  • Work with business stakeholders to undertake a formal assessment of the psychosocial risk profile.
  • Develop a Mental Health and Wellbeing Plan that incorporates psychosocial hazards, mental health, and wellbeing.
  • Undertake a review of the WHS risk register and develop a WHS risk management process and standards.
  • Review and update Designate Workgroups to ensure appropriate representation on the HSEC.
  • Prepare a statement of requirements for an approach to market for a supplier of personal protective equipment.

People who are successful in this position must have the following pre-requisites:

  • Demonstrated experience in WHS, providing advice and support based on legislation and best practice.
  • Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safetyrelated legislation, including the Commonwealth Work Health and Safety Act and Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act.
  • Understanding of WHS management systems and ISO 4500
  • Demonstrated experience in the development, review and implementation of WHSrelated policies, procedures and guidance material under work health and safety management systems.
