About the Role

  • Develop and support individual team members who undertake report and consent and related assessments
  • Review Council's policies, systems and processes to collaboratively develop a service model that delivers positive customer experience and minimises risk to the community.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and customers and represent Council in public forms such as Building Appeal Board hearings.
  • Work with the Municipal Building Surveyor as part of the Building Services Unit lead team to establish a Building Unit that will be considered a model within Local Government and which constantly strives for continuous improvement and is a highperforming team with a strong culture of collaboration and service excellence

Skills & Experience

  • A tertiary qualification in Building Surveying or Planning or related discipline and extensive experience as a Building Surveyor or Planner in Local or State Government or private practice.
  • A registration in a building discipline and/ or working towards building registration would be preferred
  • Demonstrated significant understanding of relevant Victorian building and/or planning legislation and industry requirements
  • Experience determining complex regulatory matters
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly to all stakeholders and prepare formal written reports
  • Ability to analyse systems and processes, identify potential solutions and implement change in a collaborative way
