Your key responsibilities will include:
- Education and Employability_
- Teach in the area of clinical exercise practice at the postgraduate level that is consistent with the University's principles of teaching, learning and the student experience.
- Participate in the development of learning environments that are flexible, studentcentred and accessible, utilising appropriate technology.
- Develop effective learning materials and activities as part of a design team, integrating industry clinical and/or research practice to teaching, and focussing on ongoing innovation in curriculum design.
- Work collaboratively as part of a teaching team and participate with senior colleagues in developing and maintaining links and partnerships with industry and the wider community.
- Support clinical exercise research that supports internal and external collaborations.
- Undertake appropriate administrative tasks, including development and maintenance of student clinical placement database and documentation, website and elearning materials, undertaking visits on external clinical placements.
- Prepare students for clinical practice, including student compliance requirement and remedial teaching where necessary "entry" level of knowledge and competencies are lacking.
- Undertake assessment tasks according to the requirements of the School.
- Unit coordination in the area of clinical exercise practice, covering the units Clinical Practicum 1, 2 and
- Teaching and mentoring of students for clinical practice with the Deakin Clinical Exercise Centre.
- Manage the daytoday operations of the University exercise clinic (CELC)
- Maintain appropriate discipline knowledge and awareness of innovation in curriculum design.
- Constructively review and refine own teaching practice to help maintain teaching quality standards.
- Adapt learning material and practices to support diverse learners.
- Demonstrate awareness of student support and services and guides students to them where appropriate
- Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to educational excellence.
- Support and assist with teaching scholarship and pedagogical research activity.
- Research and Innovation_
- Develop an active research record in publication and assisting in the generation of external research income
- Work with colleagues in conducting research and scholarly publication in one of the School/Faculty's areas of research strength.
- Engage in research projects, including those with senior colleagues and postgraduate students in one of the School or Faculty's areas of research strength.
- Communicate outputs, including as part of team.
- Begin to build track record of timely delivery of outcomes for industry partners.
- Cosupervise honours to timely outcomes with productive highquality outcomes.
- Develop early career research plan with guidance from mentors and supervisors.
- Adopt culture of research excellence, innovation and impact.
- University Citizenship and Engagement_
- Contribute to Deakin community and its effectiveness via local engagement and citizenship activities.
- Understand the objectives and outcomes to be delivered by the University's strategic agenda.
- Contribute to community beyond Deakin via engagement activities.
- Support Deakin community engagement plan.
To be successful, you'll have:
- Successfully completed four years of tertiary study in clinical exercise science or equivalent qualifications and experience in clinical exercise physiology (may be required to hold a relevant higher degree).
- Qualified practitioner in clinical exercise physiology as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) accredited by Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) with a practical and theoretical background in clinical exercise physiology.
- Experience in supervision of students and/or knowledge of supervision practices within a clinical exercise physiology placement.
- Ability to teach in clinical exercise practice at postgraduate levels.
- Potential to contribute to the Faculty's undergraduate teaching program that reflect an understanding of the field of
