(Organisation site )South East Region, Early Childhood and State Schools DivisionGleneagle State School is seeking a permanent part-time Guidance Officer at 0.4 FTE and 20 hours per fortnight.


Guidance Officers contribute towards, and are accountable for the provision of a comprehensive student support program that is responsive to theidentified and changing needs of students.

The program will be negotiated with and authorised by a line manager, usually the Principal.


Guidance Officers are required to provide this service in collaboration with other school-based personnel and external supportproviders in a variety of educational contexts, including schools and alternative education programs.

About the RoleResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide professional expertise, leadership and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental and lifelong learning outcomesCollaboratively negotiate, develop and implement programs for students that have a focus on preventative and early intervention strategies; are responsive to identified personal, social, emotional and educational needs; and aim to foster resilience and personal skills development.

You will have responsibility for leading the activities and delivery of the key tasks as listed in the Guidance Officer role description attached.

The successful applicant will partly be employed under the Student Wellbeing Package at 0.2FTE.

Priorities of the role through the Student Wellbeing Package include:
Identification, support and therapeutic intervention planning for students' mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Provide advice and counselling on educational, behavioural, vocational, personal, social, family and mental health and wellbeing issues for students with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Provide support and ensure safety plans for the school context are implemented for students who are self-harming and/or at risk of suicide.

Support promotion, prevention, awareness and capability building regarding mental health and wellbeing within the school community and school leadership teams.

Collect data relevant to the role of Guidance Officer - Student Wellbeing, including:Collecting pre- and post-intervention data from students and their families regarding the student's mental health and the impact of this on their overall functioning; andRecording this data, alongside other key data, on a tracking tool for regional and state-wide data collection purposes.
