About the role

We are offering a permanent full-time position for a Yard Truck Driver at our Melbourne Airport site.

  • Competitive Salary Package
  • Attractive Superannuation: 15%
  • Overtime Rates applicable outside Regular Working Hours
  • Full-time Permanent Position: Monday to Friday from 5AM-1:30 PM
  • Possibility of weekend & public holiday shifts

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating Trailer Movements: Efficiently managing B-double and semi-trailer movements within the yard to ensure timely arrivals and departures as per schedule
  • Prioritizing Trailer Movements: Consulting with supervisors to establish trailer priorities and organizing movements to meet operational needs
  • Weigh Bridge Operations: Using the weigh bridge to accurately weigh off interstate-bound linehaul trailers, ensuring compliance with weight regulations
  • Safety Monitoring: Identifying and addressing safety concerns related to trailer congestion, recognizing potential hazards, and implementing corrective measures for a safe work environment
  • Guiding Sub-Contractors: Assisting and directing sub-contractors and new drivers in the yard, providing clear instructions and ensuring adherence to safety protocols
  • Communication and Reporting: Effectively communicating with supervisors and reporting any issues during trailer movements, such as speeding drivers or violations of site driving rules

Requirements

  • Strong focus on safety and consistent demonstration of WHS practices
  • Prior experience with yard truck operations preferred
  • Valid MC License held for a minimum of 2 years
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with radio communication systems
  • Proficiency in Load Restraint Systems & Equipment
  • Ability to repetitively enter and exit yard truck
  • Skill in splitting trailers and opening/closing trailer doors
  • Experience in restraining loads in line with National Transport Commission's guidelines
