Qantas Freight is Australia's largest independent air freight services business, getting over 4000 air freight shipments across more than 500 destinations globally.

As the Business Manager, you will drive strategic and operational outcomes for the freight terminal businesses across QLD. This position will act as the 2IC in the Terminal, reporting into the Terminal Manager.

The position will be responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives by challenging existing business practices to enhance business sustainability, and ongoing engagement & reporting at a business level for our airline customers.

This role is a key contributor to the overall performance of the Domestic and International Freight operations and will be accountable for effective and efficient quality service delivery.


This role will see you working across multifaceted employee instruments, be responsible for managing complex employee relations and undertaking necessary consultation to support strategic decisions.

All of which collectively support the freight domestic, international, and client airline customer base

You'll have

  • Tertiary qualifications in Business or Logistics or equivalent experience desirable
  • Experience in a management role, preferably within the Freight or Logistics industry
  • Management experience in an operational environment with significant people management responsibility
  • Extensive leadership experience in an 24/7 operational environment desirable
  • Ability to manage a large work force and delegate multiple operational priorities.
  • Customer oriented approach with an ability to question and challenge effectively, whilst maintaining strong relationships.
  • Strong business acumen with a practical focus as well as a commitment to business improvement and ability to deliver results.
  • Exceptional understanding of processes and extensive experience in large scale operational and/or commercial functions.
  • Proven record of successfully managing change and implementing continuous improvement activities
  • Demonstrated commitment to managing a safe workplace.
  • Familiarity with Border Force, Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Civil Aviation regulations and other regulations governing freight operations (WH&S, Industrial Relations, Environment, EEO etc.)
  • Broad appreciation of wider strategic issues and drivers which shape the logistics and aviation industries
  • Ability to hold an airside drivers' license.
