Principal Mining Engineer

Role Insights:

As part of the team reporting to the Head of Technical Services, you will be instrumental in providing innovative technical solutions and driving business enhancements for our global operations. This role emphasizes collaboration and support, necessitating the application of cutting-edge mining techniques to deliver value to both new and existing customers. Key Responsibilities:

  • Act in alignment with Perenti Contract Mining's operational principles and relevant legislation
  • Uphold the values, policies, and statutory guidelines of Perenti Contract Mining
  • Cultivate positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement with a focus on technical efficiency and operational excellence
  • Identify and implement strategies for business enhancement to ensure safe production at our sites
  • Oversee the completion of works within your jurisdiction to meet user requirements
  • Offer insights on underground mine design, drill and blast operations, scheduling, and operational optimizations
  • Conduct technical reviews, forecast costs, allocate resources, and track progress efficiently
  • Assist the tendering team and review tender schedules and designs
  • Contribute to the development of systems and practices for the Technical Services department
  • Lead the Governance, Studies, Secondments or Operation Support Group Pillars as needed

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • Underground Supervisors Certificate of Competency or First Class Mine Managers Certificate (highly regarded)
  • Extensive technical and operational experience across various mining methods
  • Minimum 5 years of team supervision experience
  • Proficiency in technical report writing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with mine design, scheduling software, and office suite applications
