The Role
Join the largest group of Hydrographers in Australia at ALS We work with major Water Authorities, Government, and private clients, providing top-notch hydro-meteorological products and services. As a Trainee Field Technician/Hydrographer in Rockhampton, you'll receive comprehensive training to kickstart your career.

  • Complete a Diploma of Water Operations (Hydrography) over 3 years
  • Get 4WD driver training
  • First Aid certification
  • One-on-one mentoring
  • Role-specific technical training
The Day to Day
As a Hydrographer, your tasks will range from field work to project management. You'll be responsible for environmental monitoring services, installing and maintaining monitoring stations, data collection, flow measurements, manual sampling, and more.

The Essentials

  • Experience in environmental sampling/monitoring or hydrography
  • Tertiary qualification in environmental science or similar field (preferred)
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Skills in manual handling and tool usage
  • Driver's license and 4WD experience
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental procedures
