The Role


We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our newly created Grain Protection Program which provides an entry level opportunity for individuals interested in a career in fumigation and pest control management.

Previous experience and/or license in fumigation and pesticides is preferred but not essential as CBH will provide full training and support to ensure you gain the experience and skills required for success


We are offering this opportunity on a full-time basis over a 2-year period and once fully trained and competent, this program provides an avenue into long term career opportunities in similar roles throughout the regional CBH Network.


The program will see individuals working in our Grain Technology, central function at our AGC (Australian Grain Centre) site, located in Forrestfield for the first 6 months to undergo training.

Once competent, individuals will thereafter be based at regional locations within the CBH network to support our Operations personnel.

Working closely with Operational personnel, you will be responsible for:

  • Playing a part in supporting the Grain Protection personnel throughout our regional network with the implementation and ongoing monitoring of Grain Protection and fumigation processes;
  • Completing all required training and receiving ongoing professional development and mentoring;
  • Assisting with grain fumigations and ensure the fumigation structure and fumigation performance meets standards;
  • Recognising and responding to possible contaminations from insects, rodents, birds and other external threats to reduce or remove the risk in the area;
  • Undertake weed control programs, the implementation of rodent and feral bird control programs, hygiene checks and associated activities; and
  • Assisting Grain Technology to verify activities to ensure adherence to all relevant regulations, standards and codes of practices.
  • Willingness to learn to become fully trained in all aspects of Grain Protection and become an expert in Fumigation including Dangerous Goods Management and Pesticide safety activities;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;
  • Ability to build positive working relationships;
  • Willingness to travel throughout Western Australian Grainbelt and be based at CBH regional sites;
  • Possess a valid driver's licence;
  • A high degree of attention to detail;
  • A strong dedication towards prioritising safety; and
  • Basic computer skills.
