We are seeking a motivated, energetic, and technically minded individual to join the Geotechnical Services Laboratory, located at Cordeaux Colliery, for a global mining company and one of the Illawarra region's most recognised and highly regarded employers.


The role is a great career opportunity for a qualified science/chemistry professional with a passion for laboratory-based sample testing & analysis.


THE ROLE

  • Testing of core samples extracted from current mining operations and geotechnical exploration sites.
  • Focus on testing and analysis of gas content and composition using GC (Gas Chromotography).
  • Routine laboratory testing in accordance to NATA accredited procedures.
  • Routine QC associated with sampling and testing procedures.
  • Routine inspections and/or maintenance on the equipment required to perform sample preparation, testing, and analysis.
  • Performing other routine laboratory duties, such as ordering supplies, housekeeping, sample delivery as required.
Fulltime Hours: 7am - 3pm Mon - Fri

YOU

  • You will be
    tertiary qualified in a relevant scientific field such as Laboratory Techniques or Chemistry Cert IV level or above.
  • Sampling and testing experience in a laboratorybased environment.
  • Familiarity with NATA accredited laboratory techniques.
  • Methodical and able to
    follow structured operational processes & methods.
  • Computer literate with the ability to produce detailed and accurate reports of your laboratory testings.


Excellent communication skills
  • Able to talk to your team and supervisors effectively & produce reports for others (sometimes nontechnical) to read.
