About the Opportunity:

The Data Engineer plays a vital role in designing, constructing, and managing the analytical data infrastructure and pipelines of the organization, ensuring a smooth and reliable flow of data from diverse sources to support the company's analytical and reporting requirements.

What you will do in the role:

  • Collaborate with data analysts, business stakeholders, and fellow data engineers to grasp data needs and guarantee that data pipelines align with business demands.
  • Create, manage, and enhance resilient data pipelines using Azure Databricks.
  • Build and maintain SSIS packages to uphold our current SQL server-based system throughout the transition to Azure.
  • Devise and implement migration plans, ensuring data accuracy, minimal downtime, and a seamless shift.
  • Enhance data pipelines for optimal performance, scalability, and effectiveness.
  • Establish and enforce data governance protocols, standards, quality checks, error management, and automated surveillance mechanisms to uphold data quality, coherence, and integrity.
  • Work in conjunction with data analysts, business stakeholders, and security teams to ensure data protection and comply with applicable regulations and industry benchmarks - institute access controls, data obfuscation, and encryption measures to safeguard sensitive data.

What we will love about you:

  • At least 5 years of data engineering experience, preferably in a retail setting (supply chain/logistics, omni-channel sales, marketing, product planning & development).
  • Adept in Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS).
  • Solid grasp of data modeling and data warehousing best practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, especially Azure, and exposure to cloud data services (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics).
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python & SQL.
  • Understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security best practices.
  • Strong aptitude for problem-solving, analysis, and investigation.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, capable of collaborating efficiently with diverse teams.
  • Experience in Azure DevOps practices is advantageous.
