Your Role


Every piece of equipment requires maintenance and care to be fully utilised—this is especially true when we're dealing with advanced military equipment.

Your role as a part-time Fitter Armament in the Army Reserve is to ensure a wide range of military weapon systems are functioning at full capacity.

There's no lack of variety here.

You'll get to work hands-on with small arms, Armoured Fighting Vehicles and Artillery, marine equipment, diving equipment—just to name a few and all in a flexible part-time capacity.


This is a great chance to enjoy adventure, make close friendships and receive tax-free pay, all without giving up your current lifestyle.

Just give as little as one night a week, one weekend a month or a few weeks a year - and you'll get a world of new experiences back.


Life in the Army Reserve
Thousands of men and women enjoy part-time roles with the Army Reserve, operating alongside full-time Army personnel. The only difference is that your commitment is flexible.


Initial training length will vary based on your chosen role, after which you will normally be expected to serve between 20 and 100 days a year.

This could involve an evening each week and one weekend a month, and even extended periods away.


We do our best to make sure this fits in with your work and family commitments; and deployments are voluntary so if you choose to stay local, there are plenty of ways to make a difference closer to home.

And with no minimum period of service, you can leave the Army Reserve whenever you like.

Get Paid


The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax, and it increases as you gain seniority and experience.

On completion of military and initial employment training your rate could increase to: $206/day tax-free.


For this role, you must have a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (or equivalent) together with an approved apprenticeship or traineeship at a recognised training institution and any period of full-time employment stipulated for that trade.
