About the role

This position provides the support to undertake best practice collection management of Council's cultural collections which includes the care, research, advice/recommendations and documentation of the collection. The collections cover a broad spectrum of archaeology, social history, artwork, corporate gifts collection and general cultural artefacts.

On a daily basis you will:

  • Implement processes and workflows to document and preserve the Council's cultural collections according to legislation and policy.
  • Update the collections database to a high standard to maintain provenance and significance of collections.
  • Assess and manage documentation for accession, deaccession, loans and transfer of collection material, with a particular focus on archaeology.
  • Assist the Research & Collections team by providing research, content and documentation on the cultural collection.
  • Work within the team to complete project work and support the broader team with collection management as required.

About You

The successful candidate should have previous experience in working with cultural collections, including preservation, documentation and collection database management along with experience in managing digital assets associated with the cultural collections.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in relevant fields such as Museum Studies, Collection Management, Archaeology, or related disciplines.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in the Galleries, Libraries, Archives and Museums sector.

What's on offer

This is a 12 month contract opportunity.

3 days per week (21hrs).

We are offering an attractive total remuneration from $73,354 to $80,782 plus 11% superannuation.
