About the role:

We have permanent opportunities for experienced Clinical Coders with demonstrated accuracy, productivity rate, and knowledge and experience of the Australian Coding Standards to join our skilled team on a full or part-time basis.

You will code episodes for John Hunter, Belmont, and Tomaree hospitals coding a varied and complex Casemix with John Hunter Hospital being a Major Tertiary referral centre for Trauma in Northern NSW, including all surgical specialities along with one of the three tertiary Paediatric Hospitals in NSW.

You will be coding patient records using the current version of ICD-10-AM in line with the Australian Coding Standards and correcting clinical coding errors, queries, and quality indicators (PICQ), as directed.

  • Remote clinical coding may be considered for Senior Clinical Coders/HIM with extensive Australian coding experience, 3+ years at tertiary hospital level within Australia, located in any state of Australia.
  • Four weeks annual leave (pro-rata for part-time employees).
  • Up to 12 allocated days off each year (for full-time employees).
  • Salary packaging - Up to $9k for living expenses + $2.6k meal & entertainment + novated leasing.

Are you thinking of making a sea change?

  • Clinical Coder (Administration Officer Level 5) - Successful completion of a recognised ICD-10AM & ACHI and Australian Coding Standards coding qualification with Australian coding experience.
  • Senior Clinical Coder (Administration Officer Level 6) - Successful completion of a recognised clinical coding course and willingness to undertake an Advanced qualification or have experience across a broad range of specialties with Australian coding experience.
  • Senior Advanced Clinical Coder (Health Manager Level 1) - Successful completion of a recognised clinical coding course at an Advanced level or extensive experience across a broad range of specialties or relevant tertiary qualification in Health Information Management with Australian coding experience.

A skills test will be undertaken at the interview to gauge the coding level and grading level of the applicant.

  • You are an experienced Clinical Coder looking to join a cohesive and dynamic team.
  • You will be dedicated, and hardworking with excellent attention to detail.
  • You understand the importance of applying the principles of confidentiality, privacy, and security within the medical environment.
  • You will have demonstrated experience and competence in clinical classification using IC10 AM & ACHI and a thorough understanding and experience with Australian Coding Standards with competent keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Windows programs.
