Balance Sheet Efficiency and Reporting is a crucial component of the Group Treasury (GT) team within Financial Services (FS) at CBA. This team focuses on managing liquidity risk and balance sheet, collaborating with various stakeholders to optimize capital allocation, funding, and liquidity resources. They provide essential reporting and analysis for both internal and external audiences. The Balance Sheet Efficiency and Reporting team is divided into the following sub-teams:

  • Liquidity Policy and Stress Testing
  • Liquidity Reporting and Accuracy
  • Capital Reporting and Accuracy
  • Visualisation and Automation

Liquidity Policy & Stress Testing works closely with the larger Group Treasury team and oversees Liquidity Policy & Stress Testing activities. As a Senior Manager Liquidity Stress Testing, you will monitor economic and regulatory landscapes for potential risks that could impact the Group's business and liquidity frameworks. You will share key insights with CBA's leadership to guide decision-making and ensure balance sheet resilience.

This position reports to the Executive Manager Liquidity Policy and Stress Testing

The role involves leading a Manager of Stress Testing and creating new liquidity stress testing models in line with global best practices and APRA requirements. Emphasis is placed on enhancing liquidity risk management, scenario analysis, and integrating these into existing processes.

You will engage with various stakeholders, including senior members in Group Treasury and Risk Management, as well as teams in Finance, Business Units, and Enterprise Services,

The team's key responsibilities include:

  • Managing Group Liquidity Policy and framework, providing advice, reviewing proposals, handling regulatory requests, and overseeing the Group's Contingency Funding Framework.
  • Updating the Group's liquidity management framework annually, defining risk appetite, and planning actions in a liquidity crisis.
  • Collaborating with the Stress Testing team to develop realistic liquidity scenarios and their impact on CBA's liquidity, funding, and balance sheet.
  • Working with Business Units, Technology, and Reporting teams to implement new liquidity scenarios.
  • Maintaining governance, controls, and documentation of scenarios, key assumptions, and policies.
  • Engaging with audit teams for assurance and review activities.

We're looking for candidates with:

  • Higher education with a focus on mathematics, economics, finance, or accounting
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in banking, financial markets, or risk management, with liquidity risk exposure. Knowledge of APRA's APS 210 Liquidity prudential standard is beneficial.
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to interpret balance sheets
  • Excellent analytical and modeling skills, independent thinking, and critical analysis
  • Experience in leading and developing successful teams
  • Effective business partnering skills with a history of collaboration, influence, and driving results
  • Knowledge of regulatory and accounting standards, risk modeling techniques, financial controls, and financial systems experience.
  • Risk Mindset – All team members are expected to proactively identify, discuss, and address current and future risks.
