Position Details

We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Head of Careers to provide support and guidance to our students, this position commences in January 2025, and is a full time, one year contract position only.

Reporting to the Deputy Principal of Teaching and Learning, The Head of Careers will utilise their high-level expertise to support students and families in helping them make informed choices regarding their career pathways. The Head of Careers is also an active member of the College Leadership Team.

Your responsibilities will include:

Facilitation of school wide careers programs

• Planning and coordinating a long term, developmental careers education program from year seven to year twelve.

Career Link/VET Coordinator

• Oversee the Career Link program for students in year ten – year twelve. Act a mentor for Career

Link students.

• Lead and administer the colleges VET programs.

Career Development

• Promote and run Careers evenings and presentations.

• Counselling of students on an individual or group basis, on career paths and choices including supporting students with the appropriate subject choices.

• Provide and coordinate activities for students to develop employability skills and explore

Career opportunities.

• Promote scholarship opportunities to the College community.

Selection Criteria

• Excellent ability to work collaboratively and develop positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, Career Link, school psychologists/social workers, TAFE and Universities.

• Excellent at developing collaborative and productive working relationships with business networks such as, training providers and tertiary education institutes.

• Excellent understanding of post school pathways, including University, TAFE, Defence Forces, Apprenticeships and Traineeships.

• Excellent understanding of college pathways.

• Excellent ability to be highly organised and adaptable to changing priorities.

• Demonstrates strong understanding of Catholic Ethos and models this in all decision making.

Qualifications Required

• Graduate Certificate in Career Development.

• Graduate Diploma of Education or Bachelor of Education.

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
